I admit it. I’ve been a pretty horrible fashion blogger lately. This is not what I wore to my family’s Thanksgiving festivities. Please accept this adorable picture of a puppy as a token of my deepest apologies.
Although I’m only 24, I’m totally understanding why adults say the holidays are so crazy. I’ve been hustling. I’ve been bustling. All this while working to build multiple business means that I haven’t been taking a ton of photos lately. Sorry!
I found these lovely black boots at Urban for a cool $68. They’re everything I was looking for in a black boot. Real leather, flat, and can be casual or dressy. And how can you beat the price? The other new item in this picture is our new family dog, Buddy! I was surprised by this little pup last night upon my arrival home. He had a big red bow around his neck and everything. I’ve been having so much fun playing with him! He is such a sweetheart!

As I - Ty - posted yesterday, last evening was the annual Nordstrom shopping event. To me, it’s the mark of the official start of the holiday season. This year, I was able to take J. with me and he totally embraced every part of this tradition: free food, unendless champagne, AND shopping. (He bought himself a pair of shoes and he NEVER does this; I ALWAYS have to buy him gift cards and clothing as presents for him to update his wardrobe.) Current unemployment aside, I let myself indulge. Beyond snapping up some super cheap basics, I gave into these two beauties below.

J Brand, ‘Martini’ Flare Leg Jeans. Ummm. Delish. I’m totally psyched that this style is “back” in the trends. Not that I ever cared that it was out.
And…….
.
Jessica Simpson (always surprisingly cute, comfortable and fall-down-proof)
I. Die. I have such a shoe problem and can justify nearly any purchase. I was on the look out for army style booties but they didn’t have any that grabbed at my heart string as much as these did. OMG. Seriously. I’m already dressing myself and am so excited to transition into the 70’s hippie bohemian look. Or whatever. I’ll just put them next to my bed and stare at them for a couple days.
Some updates that need adressing:
1. I broke my camera AGAIN : (
2. I quit my job without a back-up plan. Double sad face.
What this means for all of you:
1. I am not able to take any new pictures. I have to depend on the limited archives I have stocked up.
2. I have a LOT of time on my hands. Once I get the camera back, there will be lots ‘n lots ‘n lots of photos for me to play with.
While this wasn’t my Thanksgiving outfit, it was what I wore to go pumpkin picking. I had never been before, if you can believe it! I was pretty damn psyched to spend a day at the farm. A big part of the excitement is due to the fact that this is the same farm that we’ve been fortunate enough to get our CSA from this past year. Post-picking we took the dogs on an amazingly beautiful hike through the farm grounds. It was a very lucky day. One that reminds you how fortunate you are to have legs and arms and eyes.

to be as exact as possible: we’ve been here for 2 1/4 years. this means we’ve had 3 thanksgivings. we’re gearing up for our third pac-west christmas. and i’m in eager anticipation of my third spring break.
BUT.
the cherry on top of all of these traditions remains one that i’ve started on my own….
Ok, so this challenge may seem way obvious. But, I always have a hard time deciding what to wear on Thanksgiving. I call it Non-Turkey Day because, well, neither of the authors of this blog eat meat. So, along with the quandary of what to wear, we also have to make creative, vegetarian-friendly dishes on this normally meaty day.
So, dress for the season. Something fall festive (unless you - ahem - hate fall), and something that leaves room for over-eating is preferred.
Gobble. Gobble.
I was a server in college. And we had to wear black and red ties with white polka dots. Since ties were a required part of my uniform, I don’t incorporate them into my ensembles anymore. However, when Ty challenged me to wear a tie with panache, I wanted to step up to the challenge. I felt very London in this outfit. Then, my little cousin asked me if I just came from school. Since I did attend private school I could understand why she thought this outfit was my uniform. Or maybe she’s just been watching too much Harry Potter.

My Hermes scarf was the first big ticket item I ever bought myself. And, trust me, I worked my booty off to earn it. I remember putting a painstaking amount of thought into picking the right one. And I was so terrified walking into the store by myself to pick it out. I’ve had it for 7 years and it still brings me the same amount of joy now, as it did when I first got it. I still even have the box it came in! Part of the reason I love it so much is for how much fun I can have with it. A recent Blonde Salad post was about an Hermes party and, sure enough, I was re-inspired by all the possible ways to wear it. So, this was a super casual date night with the BF.

Is anyone catching onto the “my hair is horribly dirty so i’ll just throw it up in a tight bun and hope the headband covers the rest” trick? I’m so gross.
This is the piece of art that inspired me. Amy gave it to me when she moved to Seattle, and it’s still in my room to this day. I love the leopard print. I don’t wear pink, so purple was the perfect substitute.
I got this skirt at Goodwill a few weeks ago, and I’ve been dying to style a spotty outfit around it ever since. The skirt definitely has a 90s vibe due to the side slit. I feel like Jennifer Aniston from her Friends days. Feeding off of that feeling, I paired it with pointy toes instead of round, and my mom’s old Coach bag.
The weather in Chicago this week has been super crazy. It’s freezing now! Definitely digging out snow boots and warmer coats for the coming weeks!
Is it just me, or does camel + leopard + black = amazing?

Camel is “so hot right now.” Even my dad, who happens to be the photographer for 98% of these blog pictures, was wearing camel yesterday. What a fashionable guy.
*Hope you’re all staying warm*
This was my fancy outfit for our big date night in SF. J. loves these curve hugging skirts and I love any reason to put on colorful high heels (which rarely happens in Seattle).
Shoes: Seychells
Skirt: American Apparel
Blouse: Beyond Vintage
Belt: thrifted, Atlas Seattle
Cape: H&M
Sunglasses: YSL

Ty and I were having a discussion the other day about flats. Specifically ballet flats. She was saying that she actually fancies flats, while I was saying that I don’t love them. The obvious difference between us is height. Ty is much taller than me. And she has long legs. So, her argument for flats can be understood. I actually like the pair of flats that I wore yesterday. They are very comfortable for walking around the city, but if I weren’t running around town yesterday I would have paired the 5” platforms with them instead. Which shoes do you like better?
If you’re having a hard time deciding, I would encourage you to focus on the legs….

P.S. My brother got me both pairs of shoes for Christmas.
P.P.S. Aren’t the hard-wood floors and molding in my apartment gorgeous??
P.P.P.S. I know I need to post my challenge look. I didn’t have time for a photo the day I wore it. I will re-shoot it soon :)
